Founded in 1979, it has grown into a community institution with thousands of owner-members, and remains the town's independent grocer of choice for organic and ethically sourced food.
The shelves carry local and organic produce, bulk pantry staples, fresh bread, natural cosmetics and healthy cookware, with much of the fruit and veg coming from nearby growers. For raw dairy, the co-op stocks Cleopatra's Bath Milk, a raw Jersey cow bath milk from Goomboorian sold for cosmetic use.
