Penny's Cheese Shop is a small boutique cheesemonger in the heart of Potts Point, Sydney. It was opened in 2018 by Penny Lawson, a former cheesemaker, cheese judge and past executive officer of the Australian Specialist Cheesemakers' Association, who runs the shop herself. The aim is simple: make good cheese accessible and fun, whether it is a humble everyday wedge or something rare and boutique.
The shop is tiny but well stocked, carrying a rotating range of Australian, French, English and Italian cheeses chosen and cut to order. Alongside the cheese counter you will find pantry goods and a small selection of homewares such as cheese knives and books. The shop is best known locally for its cheese toastie, which regulars and visitors travel across the city to order.
