Bookara Goat Dairy is a family-run farmstead goat dairy on the Mid West coast of Western Australia, between Dongara and Geraldton at Rangeway. Run by Cate and Mark Weston, the farm milks a herd of around 400 goats, mostly alpine breeds such as Saanen, Toggenburg and British Alpine. The goats are milked just once a day and grazed on pasture, with their diet supplemented by hay, grain and forage including black wattle and saltbush.
From that milk the dairy makes a range of fresh farmstead products: goat's curd, Persian and pressed feta, haloumi, ricotta, drinking yoghurt and fresh goat's milk. You will find Bookara at farmers' markets around Perth, Fremantle and Geraldton most weekends, and its cheeses turn up on the shelves of independent grocers and providores across the region.
Anyone after fresh, locally made goat's milk, curd and farmstead cheese from a small Mid West Western Australia herd milked once a day on pasture.
Bookara sells mainly through farmers' markets and stockists rather than a shopfront. Contact the dairy or check its website for current market days around Perth, Fremantle and Geraldton.
